According to the report of market intelligence firm Center Tower, in the first three months of this year, Indian users have downloaded the most apps. The report said that due to increasing number of smartphones in the country and reduction in prices of mobile data, there has been an increase in app downloading. Most of the Chinese apps downloaded are apps. Indians have downloaded the app for a total of 4.8 billion times. America ranked second on the list with 3 billion downloads.
The 10 most downloaded apps in India include TicketTalk, WhatsApp, Like, Hotstar, Facebook, Messenger, ShareIt, Hello, MX Player and UC Browser. Ticketcock, which was in contrast last month, was the most downloaded. Among the top-10 apps, MX Player is the only app developed by Indian company Times Internet. WhatsApp, Facebook and Messenger are all Facebook group apps. Tittock and Halo belong to the Chinese company BiteDance. Like is also an app by Chinese company Bigo Technology. At the same time, UC Browser and Shareite have been developed by China’s Alibaba Group. Hotstar is owned by the Walt Disney Company of America.
Randy Nielsen, Head of Mobile Insights at Sensor Tower, said that the growth of new smartphone users in India has led to the growth in installing apps. Android users are the most in it. He is also hopeful that downloading can grow at a 15 per cent compounding rate by 2022. Nielsen said that app downloads were slowly increasing in the last 5 years, but suddenly since Reliance Jio’s entry in 2016 App downloading grew. Jio gave users free data for the first year, after which it gave users the benefit of data by launching cheap tariff plans. Due to Jio’s cheap plans, other companies also had to reduce the prices of data plans.
